Hi there! If you’ve been following along lately you know that my cousin and her family recently joined us at Stone Hill Cottage. We celebrated an early Valentine’s Day with them and I made my Valentine Marshmallow Treat recipe for the kids.

It’s my take on traditional Rice Krispie Treats with a twist. I add red food coloring to the mix, cut them into heart shapes and dip them in melted chocolate and sprinkles.

They are pretty and festive and it goes without saying are loved by every kid in the world.

So, here is how I make them…

  • Melt 1 cube (1/2 cup) of butter in a large pot over medium low heat.
  • Add 8 cups of miniature marshmallows and a few drops of red food coloring to achieve desired color.
  • Stir until completely melted.
  • Remove from heat.
  • Add 12 cups of puffed rice cereal and stir until well coated.

  • Cool to room temperature.
  • Coat a heart shaped cookie cutter with nonstick cooking spray and cut into heart shapes.
