MY CHRISTMAS TABLE AND DIY PLACE CARDS

My Christmas Table and DIY Place Cards

Greetings and thanks so much for stopping in on Christmas Eve. We have arrived home from our cruise to Central America just in time for the arrival of all our kids who are coming in from Chicago, Philadelphia & Washington, DC. So we will be enjoying Christmas with the entire family here in Lake Arrowhead this year.¬†Snow is coming in and we anticipate a beautiful white Christmas. What a contrast from the 90 degree humid weather we have been experiencing for the past 8 days in the Caribbean! So…bring it on!!¬†

Before we left on our cruise I decorated the house for Christmas and even set the table for Christmas dinner. So today I thought I’d show you my Christmas table and DIY place cards. Brad gave me an early Christmas present, a new IPhone 7S which is purported to take great photographs. So, I shot these photos of my Christmas table with my new phone. I have to agree, it did a great job.

So, let me show you how I made my DIY place cards. I started with some small, folding wooden easels. Since my table setting was done in gold I had to improvise and paint my easels with metallic gold spray paint.

I then purchased tiny gold picture frame ornaments at a local wholesale floral supply called Shinoda’s in Orange County, California.

I mounted the tiny picture frames in the gold easels. Instead of adding a photo I wrote each of my dinner guest’s names with gold ink inside each frame and voila, a pretty gold place card was born.

The small gold frames came in oval and rectangular shapes so I bought an equal number of both and staggered them around the table.

I’ll be serving my usual holiday fare on Christmas. Here’s our menu…

Watercress Soup

Prime Rib of Beef

Fresh Creamed Horseradish

Yorkshire Pudding

Creamed Spinach

Pumpkin Pie

  • Set an extra setting..I’ll be right over. LOL. Your home is absolutely stunning and so very festive. It looks like such a magical place and a wonderful place to gather. Thank you for sharing it with us. I have heard of Shinoda and has been on my list of places to visit. I should actually do that one day since I’ve also heard great things from friends. Your placecard idea is wonderful. I love those little frames. When it comes to entertaining, you can do so much with them. You are experiencing extreme temperatures…90 degrees one day and freezing the next. I bet it is lovely in the mountains right now. I hope your cruise was wonderful. Maybe we’ll hear about it? Welcome home…and have a very Merry Christmas. Enjoy this special time with your family. It’s nice that they are able to share it with you. xoxo, v.

  • Hi Vanessa, and Merry Christmas. I’d set an extra place setting for you and Mr. B any time. I do hope we can arrange that one day. You must go to Shinoda’s one day soon too. However, once you go you’ll be a dead duck! It’s like going to Costco, you can never get out of there without spending a fortune. You’ll need a resale card to get a membership, as it is to the trade only with supposedly wholesale prices. Our cruise was fun, got to see some new places and go to the Mayan ruins in both Playa del Carmen, MX and in Belize. I will be sharing the adventure on the blog soon. Merry Christmas!
