4TH OF JULY ON THE LAKE
Hello!
Can you believe it is almost July 4th? Here in Lake Arrowhead the 4th of July is a celebrated in a big way. It’s a special holiday that everyone looks forward to, and if you live in Lake Arrowhead you wouldn’t consider being anywhere else for the 4th. By tradition, we spend every 4th of July on the lake. We have a dock-hoping, progressive dinner that begins with cocktails on one dock……
dinner on another……
and dessert on another.
Come on along and I’ll show you. Last year we started at Brenda & Jim’s dock.
Brenda made delicious Mountain Mojitos……
along with some yummy appetizers.
It is essential to decorate your dock for the holiday and Brenda did a fine job with hers.
Next stop was our dock for dinner, the transportation by boat of course.
Every year I decorate our dock too. The gangplank gets all dressed up for the occasion……
as does the dinner table.
Guests arrive and the fun continues.
Wine is poured……
and the grill gets going……
and dinner is served.
Soon the entertainment begins overhead as vintage planes do their annual fly-by, reenacting an aerial dogfight…..
that culminates with a dramatic parachute drop.
As the summer sun begins to set……
we continue our progressive dinner to the next dock where we will enjoy dessert before the fireworks begin.
Following dessert everyone piles in their boats to watch the spectacular fireworks display from the water.
Running lights on and radios tuned to the synchronized music that accompanies the fireworks, hundreds of boats motor to the center of the lake.
These pictures cannot begin to express how dramatic and exciting it is to witness this beautiful and patriotic display from the middle of our lake. It makes me proud and grateful to be an American.
I’ve been told that this year will be the most spectacular fireworks display ever put on in Lake Arrowhead. I am looking forward to it and I’ll be back to tell you all about it! In the meantime, stay tuned. This week I’ll be posting my delicious recipe for my famous Red Potato Salad. I always make it for the 4th.
And I’ll be sharing my delicious Dry Rub Recipe along with my recipe for Chimichurri Sauce, both of which will enhance any kind of meat.
Thank you for stopping by!
Have a very HAPPY 4TH OF JULY!
