OUR 4TH OF JULY ON THE LAKE
Hello there!
I hope you enjoyed a wonderful 4th of July weekend. Ours was spent at our dock on beautiful Lake Arrowhead…
with great friends…
delicious Red,White & Blue Sangria…
and yummy appetizers including my recipe for Feta Cheese & Lentil Dip…
We ate a delicious dinner…
took a boat ride on lake…
and watched an amazing air show overhead…
In preparation for our guests I spent the afternoon setting the table…
and making flower arrangements with baby roses cut from my garden.
These red roses conveniently bloom every year just in time for our 4th of July on the lake. I decorated the vases with clipart that I got here.
The previous day I prepared Red, White & Blue Candied Apples that served both as party favors and place cards. This week I’ll post a tutorial on how to make them. They were easy to make, attractive, functional and delicious!
I prepared the dock with seating…
where we enjoyed cocktails and appetizers before dinner.
I grilled Black Bean, Cremini Mushroom and Turkey Sliders for dinner and forgot to take a photo of them cooked!
I served them along with my Knock-Off Recipe for Wood Ranch BBQ Coleslaw with Peanuts.
And Brenda made her wonderfully delicious 3 Bean Baked Beans.
As the sun began to set over Lake Arrowhead…
it was time to head out by boat to watch the fireworks with my husband Brad was our able Captain.
I love cruising the lake after dark because it is so beautiful to see all the lovely homes and docks lit up.
The light reflecting off the water was stunning.
That’s our little dock right in the center of the photo.
It is also fun to check out all the other dock parties going on. Everyone was in a celebratory mood and the excitement was high because…
this happened to be the 4oth Anniversary of Fireworks on Lake Arrowhead. We were told that the fireworks display would be the most spectacular ever and everyone agreed that they certainly were.
Fireworks are placed on two floating barges that are anchored in the middle of the lake.
Hundreds of boats motor out to watch them…
up close and personal from the vantage point on the water.
I couldn’t stop taking photos, as it was such an amazing sight!
Fireworks of every color, from green…
to red…
white…
and blue.
There were purple fireworks…
and golden fireworks…
and multi-colored ones.
The fireworks burst overhead…
and seemed to rain down upon us.
It was indeed true that on this 40th Anniversary, the 4th of July fireworks were beyond compare. At the conclusion of the fireworks we took one final lap around the lake, enjoying a delicious lemon & berry tart for dessert.
It was a memorable and wonderful evening that makes me feel grateful to be an American.
Stay tuned and all this week I’ll be sharing my 4th of July recipes including my Red, White & Blue Sangria, my Feta & Lentil Dip, my Wood Ranch BBQ Coleslaw, Brenda’s 3 Bean BBQ’s Baked Beans and more.
I’ll also show you how I made the Red, White & Blue Candied Apples.
So there you have it: Our 4th of July on the Lake.
