A WILLOW WOODS BIRTHDAY PARTY

Last week, my friend W.K. celebrated his birthday and his wife, my homie Mo, had a Willow Woods Birthday Party for him.
What is Willow Woods? Well, it is a ultra charming collection of vintage log cabins set in the woods in Sky Forest. Sky Forest is a little village 1 mile from Lake Arrowhead, California where I live.
Initially created as a logging camp in the early 1900’s, it is home to some of the oldest trees on the mountain.
It is also home to some of the oldest log cabins in the area.
Having survived modernization, fire and economic hardship, the cabins at Willow Woods have remained relatively unchanged for almost 100 years! Today one cabin is used as a bar…
that they call “The Lounge”…
where we enjoyed some great wine and appetizers.
Other charming cabins provided a pretty-as-a-picture backdrop for the party.
My friend, Louise, owns Willow Woods and she hosts wonderful parties and weddings on her property.
For W.K.’s Willow Woods Birthday Party, tables were set under the beautiful oak and pine trees with twinkling lights overhead.
There were lovely, rustic centerpieces decorating the tables.
Louise and her partner, Eddie, also have a fantastic, fire-roasted, artisan pizza restaurant on the property called “LouEddies Pizza”.
They prepare some of the best and most authentic pizzas this side of the Atlantic. LouEddies Pizza is open to the public for lunch and dinner, but it also caters the parties hosted in Willow Woods.
They served us many different selections of pizza from their very creative pizza menu. This is my favorite, called The Mad Greek. It’s got fresh mozzarella cheese, marinated artichokes, roasted fresh tomatoes, kalamata olives and pepperoncinis.
They also have the more traditional sausage and pepperoni pizzas.
As you can see, a great time was had by all.
But, just as we were finishing up our pizza, an unusual summer rain storm dampened the tables, but not our spirits. We simply moved inside one of the cabins where we enjoyed the birthday cake. The cake paid homage to W.K’s decades in the entertainment industry as one of the leading Sound and Voice Over guys in Hollywood.
