WHAT TO GIVE A MAN WHO HAS EVERYTHING FOR HIS BIRTHDAY
Hello.
Last week I shared with you a post about my friend W.K’s beautiful birthday party. It was called “A Willow Woods Birthday Party”.
I hemmed and hawed about a present for W.K. What do you give a man who has everything for his birthday? Well, today I thought I’d show you what I came up with. A few days before the party, I went shopping for a birthday card and found this one with a photo of a really ugly cat on the cover. No reflection what-so-ever on W.K !
The inside of the card read: “Birthdays are fun…It’s the day after that hurts.” So that got me to thinking.
We usually know how to have fun when we party with W.K., (we call him Dub) and, therefore, I thought he might need a little fortification the morning after the party. So, I decided to fix him a basket of goodies to make his morning-after a little sweeter. I whipped up a batch of my Homemade Granola. (You can find my recipe for it here.)
And then I whipped up a batch of my favorite Zucchini Bread.
And I added it to a basket with a nice bottle of champagne and some gourmet preserves that I thought would compliment the Zucchini Bread. Then I wrapped it all up in a tea towel and voila, I had myself a birthday gift for a man who has everything, including, perhaps, a hangover the morning after:)
So, while I’m at it, I thought I’d give you my recipe for the best Zucchini Bread on the planet.
It actually isn’t my recipe, but one I have been making for several years and absolutely love. It comes from the Silver Palate Cookbook. Over the years, I have modified it to use less oil and sugar, and replaced the white flour with wheat. It is moist and delicious, with a hint of ginger and cinnamon, and you really should make it. Plus, if you’re like me, you may have an overabundance of zucchini in your garden that’s just itching to become Zucchini Bread!
Please visit the “COOK” section of the blog for the recipe here. You’ll be glad you did;)
So there you have it: WHAT TO GIVE A MAN WHO HAS EVERYTHING FOR HIS BIRTHDAY
Thanks so very much for stopping in!
