TAPAS JAZZ AND CHOCOLATE
Hello!
As I’ve told you, we just bought another fixer-upper log cabin.
It’s located near Big Bear Lake in the quaint village of Fawnskin. Fawnskin is a sleepy little place with a very small downtown that features a general store, a good little cafe and a couple of retail stores. But it is also home to a charming establishment called The Inn at Fawnskin.
For 2 years running, we have attended an event at The Inn at Fawnskin called TAPAS JAZZ AND CHOCOLATE.
It is a fundraiser for a local church and happens to be one of the most enjoyable fundraisers I’ve ever attended. It takes place outside on the lovely wooded grounds of the inn, so the setting alone makes the event worthwhile.
With the beautiful log cabin as the backdrop, tables were arranged on the lawn between the towering pines. The first year we attended, we arrived a little early, just as an unusual summer rainstorm hit, so they hadn’t yet finished decorating the tables.
Thankfully the storm subsided so we could enjoy the outdoor setting with friends.

A tented bar served great wines and craft beer.
They also had a really terrific raffle with an international flair. Each raffle basket represented a country, and was filled with lovely thematic goodies.
It was actually one of the nicest displays of baskets I have ever seen at a fundraiser, and I’ve attended a lot of events like this.
The food served was also awesome! Course after course of delicious Tapas were delivered to the tables by waitstaff.
This shrimp salad was mouthwatering…
as was the seared Ahi Tuna…
and this Bruschetta with shaved parmesan and fresh basil.
A wonderful 3 piece Jazz ensemble entertained us from the terrace.
The musicians were really talented and they accompanied a number of singers who took to the stage to serenade us.
But the piece-de-resistance was the amazing display of Chocolates.
Inside, the dining room table was brimming with every imaginable chocolate confection.
I don’t believe I’ve ever seen so much chocolate in one place ever before…
and in such a wide variety of items.
By the time we traversed the table our plates were overflowing with far too much chocolate indulgence.
I believe that many members of the congregation donated homemade chocolate confections to the event.
Everything I tasted was really delicious…
and the variety of items was astounding!
The Inn at Fawnskin is such a pretty place, and it gave me lots of inspiration for the renovation of my own Fawnskin Log Cabin.
An old row boat decorates the garden and does double-duty as a raised vegetable garden. What a great idea!
Even the vehicles parked out front were full of character.
It was a lovely afternoon and evening, and I look forward to the 3rd annual Tapas Jazz and Chocolate, which will take place on August 16, 2015. While you will have to wait a year for the next event, here is a link to The Inn at Fawnskin website, which will likely have all the information posted sometime in the new year.
In the meantime, here’s a great little jazz tune that I think is just terrific! Watch it, you’ll be glad you did.
So there you have it: Tapas Jazz and Chocolate.
