CELEBRATING A 30th BIRTHDAY AT THE ARIZONA BILTMORE HOTEL
Last week I invited you to a beautiful engagement party. Did you see that post? If not, you can view it by clicking here.
That party took place in Scottsdale, Arizona at the magnificent home of my friend Jen. My entire family flew in for the big event. Nathan & family from DC, and Taylor from Philadelphia. And of course, we drove in from Southern California.
In addition to attending the engagement party, we had a fantastic, celebratory weekend that included celebrating a 30th birthday at the Arizona Biltmore Hotel. My son Nathan turned the big THREE O. Brad and I stayed with friends but my dad, my kids and grandkids shared a beautiful villa suite at The Arizona Biltmore, a Waldorf Astoria Resort.
The Arizona Biltmore is set on 39 lush acres in the heart of Phoenix, Arizona.
My grandchildren had a great time in the famous Catalina swimming pool, which can even be enjoyed in winter due to the mild Arizona climate.
Built in 1929, the Arizona Biltmore Hotel is one of only a few hotels in the world that enjoys the distinct architectural imprint of Frank Lloyd Wright. You can see it here in the architecture of the Villas.
The three bedroom villa was comfortable, spacious and was perfect for my extended family. The living room had a grand fireplace and opened up onto a huge covered terrace that stretched the length of the villa.
There was a dining area and a small kitchen.
Just off the expansive hotel lobby…
is Wright’s Restaurant, honoring Frank Lloyd Wright, of course.
The long center table was perfect for our informal dinner to celebrate a belated birthday with my son Nathan who had recently turned 30.
It is difficult to believe that I have a 30 year old son!
Newly engaged couple, Anna and Carson joined us. They wanted to spend time with my granddaughter Elle, who will be a flowergirl in their upcoming wedding.
In closing I wanted to tell you about one of the gifts we gave our son. My husband came up with what I thought was a brilliant idea, to give him 2 bottles of fine Scotch, both 30 years old like him. I placed them in a beautiful silver filigree cache pot that I bought in the online shop of one of my favorite bloggers, Tina, from The Enchanted Home.
Nathan was pleased with the alcohol that was also born the same year he was. And he has already found a spot for the silver cache pot in his bar at home.
Between the engagement party and the birthday party it was a wonderful weekend of important celebrations marking some very large milestones in the lives of people I love.
