SUNDAYS WITH CELIA VOL 3

Welcome back to Sundays With Celia Vol 3. I’m so happy you stopped in for a little of this and that & things that caught my attention this week.

Things Worth Listening to on Sunday

I thought I’d start your Sunday off with a little love song. Last week Broadway Producer James Wesley and his husband, musician Seth Rudetsky, brought 60 of Broadway’s biggest stars together to honor the victims of the Orlando Nightclub massacre.

In a touching tribute inspired by the “We Are The World” charity track, they belted out the Burt Bacharach/Dionne Warwick 1965 hit, What The World Needs Now. Putting the project together in just two days, the song is now available for purchase at BroadwayRecords.com, with 100% of the proceeds going to the LGBT Center in Orlando, Florida. We are reminded of the most powerful 4 letter word in our language: LOVE. We can only hope that love will win in the end.

Things Worth Watching on Sunday

At the top of my blog roll of favorite reads is Vicki Archer, an Australian writer who lives between London and Saint Rémy de Provence in southern France. This week she reminded us of a movie I loved, the 2006 Russell Crowe film, A Good Year. An adaptation of Peter Mayle’s best-selling novel, the movie follows the romantic misadventures of an Englishman who inherits a chateau and vineyard from his uncle in Provence, France. The scenery, setting and cinematography make one want to jet off to southern France immediately.

Chateau la Canorgue, The House Max Inherits in the Movie

This week Vicki Archer, in her “On Location” blog series, tells you how you can visit the very chateau, villages and restuarants seen in the film. I think I’ll watch that movie again and start planning my next trip to France stat!

Things Worth Reading on a Sunday

I’ve told you about another one of my favorite bloggers, Sharon Santoni of My French Country Home. She penned the book, My Stylish French Girlfriends, a book I gave to all my stylish girlfriends for Christmas.

Things Worth Noting This Sunday

Bill Cunningham, legendary New York Times Fashion Photographer, died yesterday at age 87. Mr. Cunningham was such a familiar presence in New York City that in 2009 he was designated a living landmark. He was easy to spot, riding his bicycle through Midtown Manhattan, always wearing his signature utilitarian blue French worker’s jacket, khaki pants and black sneakers with his camera slung around his neck, ever at the ready for the next fashion statement to come around the corner.

Back in November 2014 I published this blog post about Mr. Cunningham. What a special man he was. He will be missed. In Memorandum, here’s one of the many fashion videos he produced. In fact, this video may have been his last, as it was the most recent one I could find.

I hope you are having a really lovely Sunday.

So there you have it: SUNDAYS WITH CELIA VOL 3
