COCKTAILS WITH DONKEYS
Hello dear readers. Thanks for stopping in today for Cocktails With Donkeys.
Yes, that’s right, every evening of our stay at the lovely Orcas Island retreat, Rutabaga Farm, we enjoyed our evening cocktails with donkeys.
The 2 resident donkeys who live on the 5 acre property were anxious to greet us humans, who along with cocktails for us, came bearing apples for the donkeys.
I’d pour a glass of wine for Brad…
and whip up a gin & tonic for me…
and off we’d go down the the path thru tall grass to greet the donkeys.
At the Orcas Food Co-Op in Eastsound I bought the most delicious smoked mortadella by Jack Mountain Meats and served it along with crusty fresh bread, pepper jack cheese and eggplant dip as an evening appetizer. We did not share this deliciousness with the donkeys!
Life on Orcas Island is beautiful and relaxed. Here at the charming Rutabaga Farm we were able to slow down and smell the roses…
and the other flowering plants that decorated the grounds.
Our little evening ritual of having cocktails with donkeys was a simple pleasure I will always remember fondly.
It is small rituals such as these that ignite pure joy in my soul.
Cheers to Rutabaga Farm. Until we meet again…
