BEAUTIFUL ICE BOWL TUTORIAL
Beautiful Ice Bowl Tutorial
Hi there! Thanks so much for stopping in today. In my last post entitled Easy Yet Elegant Holiday Snacks I showed you how to make a beautiful Ice Bowl as part of a larger blog post. It didn’t include a printable recipe so today I thought I’d reintroduce it as a stand-alone blog post with a printable recipe that will live in my “Cook” category on the blog.
During this busy holiday season many of us are looking for easy ways to add something special to our holiday table. Toward that end I’ve invented an easy yet elegant way to both display food & drinks while keeping them chilled at the same time. So today I’m going to give you my Beautiful Ice Bowl Tutorial so you too can impress your guests with a elegant addition to your holiday table. In less than 10 minutes you will be able to assemble the bowl using fruit, flowers, herbs and/or greenery that you likely have on hand. Get creative! I decided to make my Ice Bowl using sliced oranges and holly leaves and berries, perfect for the holidays. Here’s my Beautiful Ice Bowl Tutorial:
Start by slicing 3 large navel oranges into 1/2″ thick slices.
Line a large glass bowl with the orange slices, then add some holly & berries. As an alternative to the holly you could use orange tree leaves and fresh cranberries.
Place a second glass bowl on top of the fruit. Pour water between the bowls to 1/2 inch from the top.
Place the bowls in the freezer and freeze them overnight.
When you’re ready to use your Ice Bowls remove them from the freezer and let them sit at room temperature for about 15 minutes until the bowls separate easily. Do not run them under water.
Remove the top bowl.
Next, invert the bottom bowl onto a flat plate. Place it back in the freezer until ready to use.
Once you’re ready to use your beautiful Ice Bowl carefully invert it onto a serving platter or stand. The ice bowls end up being about 1/2″ thick so they stay frozen at room temperature for a good while. Make sure to place your ice bowl in a bowl or plate to catch drips as the ice melts.
Use your beautiful Ice Bowl to serve beverage while at the same time keeping them cold. The bowls are also perfect for serving Fresh Shrimp. In this case I’d perhaps line my ice bowl with fresh dill. You could even make yourself a smaller ice bowl to hold cocktail sauce.
Here’s the handy printable recipe:
