A RECAP OF MY HOLIDAY SEASON
Hi there and thanks so much for stopping in today. Since I was both under the weather and very busy during Christmas & New Year’s, I thought I’d take today to give you a recap of my holiday season. This year 3 of our 4 boys, our daughter-in-law and soon to be DIL, and our 2 grandbabies were with us for a full week from Christmas thru New Years.
Christmas morning I was up early, taking photos of our snowy landscape that I shared with you in my last post. We opened stockings and then took a break to prepare a pancake breakfast with the help of my grandchildren.
My recipe for Pancakes is a delicious one. You’ll find the recipe by clicking here.
They are especially yummy topped with strawberries and whipped cream!
My parents and nephew also joined us on Christmas Day for our traditional Prime Rib Christmas Dinner. I make decadent Creamed Spinach, Creamed Sweet White Corn and Popovers to accompany the Prime Rib that is served with Fresh Creamed Horseradish.
In my opinion the popovers are the best part of the meal!
After the opening of gifts everyone went outside to play in the snow. My son showed his kids how to make snow angels.
They worked on a snowman…
and made a sled run in the front yard…
We also gave the kids their first lesson on skis, having formed a tiny ski run in the driveway.
After making a Cookie White House with me over Thanksgiving, the kids were anxious to make a gingerbread house for Christmas. It was so much fun! If you have kids in your life I highly recommend this special activity.
We also took the family to the newly opened SkyPark at Santa’s Village. What an amazing place! I can’t say enough about this wonderful new amusement park, located right here in Lake Arrowhead. In fact, stay tuned, as I plan to dedicate an entire post to this place that’s making spirits bright all year long!
We visited with Santa, peddled around Arrow’s Adventure…
went ice skating, and much, much more!!
All of a sudden a week had passed and New Year’s Eve was upon us! I’m usually too tired by the time New Year’s rolls around to plan and prepare anything special so we generally stay home and just chill. But this year, unbeknownst to us, the kids had gone shopping and purchased a plethora of festive decorations. They told Brad and I to stay out of the bar so they could surprise us with a spontaneous New Year’s Eve Party.
We were simply blown away when my granddaughter parted the gold curtain they’d hung and we entered to find every surface blanketed with New Year’s decor.
What a wonderful way to end the year! As we look forward to a terrific 2017 I want to take this opportunity to thank you for following me. I am ever-so-grateful for you and wish you a healthy, happy & prosperous new year.
So there you have it: A RECAP OF MY HOLIDAY SEASON
