SUNDAYS WITH CELIA VOL 29
Hi there! I’m so pleased you joined me today for Sundays With Celia Vol 29.
Remembering Our Valentine on Sunday
Are you ready for Valentine’s Day? It’s on Tuesday, that’s 2 days away, oh my! For all the Valentine inspiration you’ll ever need take a look back at some of my previous Valentine posts by clicking on the links below:

How Do You Celebrate Valentine’s Day?
OK, I’m curious…
I’d like to know what you think about Valentine’s Day and how you like to celebrate cupid, or not. Personally, after 25 years of marriage I don’t expect my husband to make a big deal out of the day. Of course I always love an excuse to go out to dinner, and it sure is nice to be remembered with some pretty flowers. This time last year we had a great time celebrating Valentine’s Day in wine country, at Topel Winery’s Love and Meritage Wine Blending Party that I told you about earlier in the week. But frankly I am not in need of another shiney bobble to hang off of my finger, wrist or neck. And in truth I don’t need Valentine’s Day to know I’m loved, and I hope my husband feels the same. But since all my kids and grandkids live far away I use the occasion to let them know they are loved and thought of by popping a few little Valentine treats in the mail to them.
So, let’s hear from y’all. Please let us know what Valentine’s Day means to you and how you and your loved one’s treat Valentine’s Day.
What I’m Watching On Valentine’s Day
There are very few network television shows I enjoy anymore. However, every Tuesday night at 9pm you’ll find me watching This Is Us, the new NBC drama that has taken the airwaves and the awards shows by storm. “This is Us” has now reaped the most Golden Globes nominations for an NBC drama series in 13 years, since “The West Wing” in 2003. I guess that’s sayin’ something. So it looks like the episode set to air Tuesday night on Valentine’s Day is going to be a powerful one. Will you be watching?
On My Travel Radar This Sunday
If you know me you know I love to travel. Later this month I’m going to Washington, DC, in March I have a trip planned to Philadelphia, in April we are going on a cruise to Canada and in May we’ll be taking another Uniworld River Boat Cruise in Europe, this time down the Danube River. Yesterday I was doing some trip planning and I ran across a great article in Travel + Leisure Magazine that listed their picks for the best hotel in all 50 states. From the country’s best beach resort to a swanky, Madison Avenue boutique hotel, these are the top hotels from sea to shining sea according to T + L. Since my motto is why leave the comforts of my home and bedroom for anything less, this article was of interest to me. In fact, I wanted to see how many of the hotels they list I’ve already been to. For my state of California their pick was The Farmhouse Inn, a family-run Inn and with only 25 rooms & cottages in Sonoma wine country. It also has a Michelin-starred restaurant too. I have not been there yet, although the last time we were in Sonoma we drove past and it looked lovely. If you enjoy really nice hotels check out this list. See if you agree with their pick for your state, then see how many of these exclusive retreats you’ve been to.
What I Won On Sunday
Recently a FedEx package arrived addressed to me. When I opened it up I was very surprised to find a beautifully wrapped gift inside. I was perplexed because it wasn’t my birthday or any special occasion. Then it occurred to me that I had actually won a contest over on a favorite blog called Reviving Charm.
As I pulled the gift out of the box I was blown away by its beauty. Such care had been taken with the beautiful wrapping paper, the special cotton ribbon and a card which had even been embossed with sealing wax! And the carefully written calligraphy on the card was stunning!
It was so beautiful I hated to unwrap it, instead choosing to let it sit, decorating my office for quite some time.
I finally opened it to find a gorgeous journal containing a beautiful watercolor for every month of the year.
I have always aspired to write in a journal and I believe this lovely gift is just the impetus I need to begin doing so. Thank you Vanessa. Your gift has shown me with certainty that you know how to live a charming life and find every opportunity to make life more charming.
As for those of you reading this, I hope you will hurry on over to Reviving Charm, because we all deserve to live a charming life!
So there you have it: SUNDAYS WITH CELIA VOL 29
Wishing you a happy and love filled Valentine’s Day.
Thanks so much for dropping in!
