SUNDAYS WITH CELIA VOL 34
Hello and welcome to Sundays With Celia Vol 34. It’s great to have you here today!
Party Time on Sunday
Today as you read this post I’ll be sailing the high seas off the coast of California. We are having a family reunion cruise in celebration of my dad’s 90th birthday. It seems like it was just yesterday when we celebrated his 88th with a wonderful party held at the iconic and historic Pasadena Langham Huntington Hotel. I wrote about it in a post entitled “How To Host A Very Impressive Cocktail Party.”
My “How To Host” series of blog posts are my most popular, often drawing over 100 thousand visitors to the blog. So this week I finally got around to posting about a duel birthday party for my 2 grandchildren that took place (I’m ashamed to say) over a year ago. The post is entitled “How To Host The Perfect Princess And The Frog Birthday Party.” It doesn’t matter if you are interested in how to host a children’s birthday party per se, as my “How To Host” blog posts give lots of helpful party planning tips in general. So, if you missed the party it’s never too late to join in the fun. Just click here.
Sailing Into The Eye of the Storm on Sunday
As I mentioned I’m on a cruise at the moment. It’s just a quickie 4 day voyage from Los Angeles to Vancouver with one stop in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. And just when I thought Spring had sprung it looks like the west coast will be inundated with another giant storm as illustrated in the map below. All that red area indicates lots & lots of rain, hitting us right about when our ship will be sailing off the coast of northern California and Oregon. I have a tendency to get motion sickness so I’m bracing myself for stormy seas. If I survive I’m looking forward to spending a couple of days in Vancouver at the conclusion of the cruise. If you have any travel tips for Vancouver please share them in the comment section below. Thank you!
Beauty and the Beast on Sunday
I finally got around to seeing the new film, Beauty and the Beast this week. I LOVED IT and so did the 3 girlfriends that joined me. The animation is simply amazing! I came away from the movie wishing I understood how they managed to blend lifelike animated characters like the beast with live action characters like Belle, the Beauty. The costuming, cinematography and set design are amazing and very beautiful. If you’d like to learn more about the magic of modern movie making and some secrets about how they made Beauty and the Beast, watch the very interesting short video below
And of course it goes without saying that the soundtrack stole the show. If you haven’t yet seen it, run, don’t walk, to your nearest theater. It is so great for all ages, and in fact, with all the subtle adult humor that permeates the script, it’s almost more appropriate for adults. Plus, I would not take very young children to see it, as some scenes would be frightening.
Take An Intelligence Test On Sunday
Ok, so it’s probably no genius that devised this test but it was a fun exercise anyway. They claim that by taking this online test they will be able to guess your level of education. Interestingly enough, after taking the test they did guess correctly that I possess a Bachelor’s degree. I had always hoped to continue my education beyond that point, but alas, never did. And after taking this test I guess I’ll never fool anyone that I’m anything more than a lowly undergrad:(
Go take the test then come back and let us know if they correctly guessed your level of education.
Thank you ever so much for being here today. I hope you are enjoying a really good weekend!
So there you have it: Sunday’s With Celia Vol 33
