SUNDAYS WITH CELIA VOL 35
Hi There! I’m so happy you joined me today for Sundays With Celia Vol 35.
I’ve missed the last couple of Sundays due to a very busy schedule that has included lots of travel, future travel planning and work on The House On Cottage Grove. And last Sunday, when I could have been writing a blog post, I was having lunch with my cousin at this very funky restaurant in Wrightwood, California called the Evergreen Cafe. It’s an institution in the area, with patrons often standing in long lines, waiting an hour or more to be seated. And to think I’d never been there before!
I couldn’t resist ordering one of my favorite things, a Club Sandwich, and this is what I got. How ’bout that for a yummy looking Club, which as good as it was, was impossible to finish! After lunch we ended up sitting outside on their porch, drinking iced tea and talking for hours. It was a fun afternoon at a funky, hole-in-the-wall cafe that I look forward to returning to.
That night I made us a yummy Cobb Salad for dinner, which is actually like a deconstructed Club Sandwich when you think about it. What was I thinking? Club/Cobb overload for sure!
A Look Back On Sunday
So this week I shared with you the Penthouse Suite we occupied on our recent Princess Cruise from Los Angeles to Vancouver, Canada. My extended family had a fantastic time celebrating my dad’s 90th birthday on the cruise. We occupied 3 lovely suites in the back of the ship, creating what I’m sure was the longest cruise ship balcony sailing the high seas.
Our short cruise made one stop in Victoria, British Columbia. Victoria is a really special place; very picturesque, clean and loaded with lots to do and see. If you haven’t been, plan a trip now with the help of my list of Top 10 Things To Do In Victoria.
Something Fun I Found On Facebook
I ran across this fun exercise that attempts to guess which nationality you resemble. Just upload a photo to this website by linking it to your Facebook account.
It then analyzes your facial features and guesses your nationality. Interestingly enough, it guessed me to look like a Canadian. How apropos since I just returned from Canada. I think that’s interesting because even though the majority of my genes come from Spain, my Maternal Grandmother hails from Nova Scotia, Canada, making me 25% Canadian. I find this curious however, because since when is Canadian an ethnicity? Who knew you could look Canadian?
In any case it’s a fun exercise, don’t you think? I’m curious how accurate it really is so why don’t we do an experiment together? You go take the test by clicking here, then come back and take my survey below. Let’s see if this face analysis thing really works.
How Advanced Is Your Grammar On Sunday?
As a blogger, I am challenged by the English language on a daily basis. Try as I might to be accurate in my spelling, punctuation, grammar and sentence structure, I know I make plenty of mistakes. I’m fortunate to have an excellent proofreader in the form of my father. While his native language is Castilian Spanish, he is more articulate with the English language than most native English speakers. So, if you find mistakes on this blog it’s really all his fault;) Just to be sure I decided to test my own ability with English grammar by taking this test. Take the test here and see how savvy your skills are.
Can you spell relief? Hallelujah, I got a perfect score! Perhaps I am semi-qualified to do this thing called blogging after all?
