SUNDAYS WITH CELIA VOL 40
Hello and welcome to Sundays With Celia Vol 40.
Happy 4th of July
If you are looking for some last minute holiday inspiration you’ve come to the right place. Click here for my Ultimate Guide to the 4th of July.
Red, White & Blue Candied Apples
I hope you are enjoying a relaxing and fun long holiday weekend. I’ve got my DC dwelling son here with my 2 precious grandbabies and we are taking them for their first visit to Disneyland today. It will be so fun seeing the Magic Kingdom through their eyes. We’ll do a backyard BBQ on Monday, then go down to the lake to watch the fireworks display. What are you doing this weekend?
Looking Back On Sunday
It was a delicious week here at After Orange County. For more holiday food ideas try my Roasted Vegetable Tricolore Pasta Salad, perfect for your 4th of July picnic.
And for the perfect summery dessert that’s also easy to transport to the lake, the park or to a friend’s house, try my Luscious Apricot Crumble.
It’s National Sunglass Day (or it was on Tuesday)
Speaking of eyes, my husband is in the eyewear biz so lucky me, I get my pick of way too many designer sunglasses and optical frames. Even so, my husband complains that as the creature of habit I am, I rarely switch out my sunglasses, most of the time choosing instead to wear the same old pair I keep stashed in my purse. So in honor of National Sunglass Day I organized my favorite pairs and made him a pledge that I’d switch em up regularly. By the way, eye protection is so important! Wear good quality sunglasses every time you go outside. Your eyes will thank you later in life!
Is Luxury Yacht Travel In Your Future?
On our trip last month to Europe we stayed at Ritz-Carlton properties in both Budapest & Vienna. The brand new Ritz-Carlton Budapest was honestly one of the best and most memorable hotel stays of my life. I will be sharing that experience with you soon. However, until this last trip I hadn’t been a huge fan of Ritz-Carlton, having had poor experiences at their Puerto Rico & Charlotte, NC properties. But, because of the terrific deal we got via Platinum AMEX Fine Hotels & Resorts, we decided to give them another try and it turned out so very well. So, it seems that Ritz-Carlton is now giving us another very good reason to travel with them again, as they are venturing into the luxury large yacht business. In 2019 they will launch a fleet of 3 beautifully designed spaces at sea. Each of the custom-built yachts in its fleet features 149 suites, several lavish duplexes, a spa, a signature restaurant and a bar with on-board entertainment. While the first voyage doesn’t set sail until 2019, future passengers can visually explore the journey that awaits. Sign me up!

The Life of a Summer Intern in DC
Many young people are working as Interns this summer, including one of my sons who is Interning for a Federal Judge in Chicago. My DC dwelling, all grown up, married with kids son has also done his share of Interning over the years too. But now instead of working as an Intern, Interns work for him at one of his business ventures, FamousDC. In fact, one of his Interns is featured in a really humorous video series. Check them out…
Looking Forward on Sunday
Stay tuned and next week I’ll be giving you the before, the during and the after of the Mud Room at The House On Cottage Grove. This wonderful light-filled space is actually my favorite room in the house. Below is a sneak peek.
I’ll also be sharing with you my tips on how to create inexpensive DIY wall art, which is what I’ve been doing all this week over at The House On Cottage Grove. See how I’ve transformed a house full of ugly, dated art and vintage linens into updated wall decor that truly compliments the remodeled space.
So there you have it: SUNDAYS WITH CELIA VOL 40
