SUNDAYS WITH CELIA VOL 41
Hello and welcome to Sundays With Celia Vol 41. I’m delighted you’ve joined me on this beautiful Sunday in summer.
A Look Back On Sunday
It’s been a week of Hungarian travel here at After Orange County. Budapest truly was one of my most favorite travel destinations and for this reason I dedicated 3 posts to the subject. First I invited you into our beautiful hotel room at the Ritz-Carlton Budapest.
Then I showed you the magnificent Club Lounge that we took full advantage of during our stay.
And finally, I gave you a comprehensive travel guide to Budapest. So tell me, have I tempted you to visit this really special city? Or, have you already been?
I’ve Been Busy Lately
Since returning from Europe I’ve been busy, and I look forward to bringing you up to date with what I’ve been doing in upcoming blog posts. Next week I’ll show you the party I hosted for my husband’s recent birthday.
And I’ll take you bowling at The White House!
I also plan to share with you my go-to, summer dessert recipe. It’s a delicious, light and refreshing Fresh Fruit Pavlova.
My Son Did An Interview on the BBC This Week
Saying he has a “Face for Radio,” my son took this silly selfie while recording an interview at the DC headquarters of the BBC World News.
As a close friend and former business partner of Sean Spicer, Nathan was asked about Sean’s recent resignation from his job as White House Press Secretary.
While I try to avoid anything political on this blog, I’m kind of a proud mamma. So, you can click on the image above or the link below to hear a clip of his interview.

A Trip To Disneyland
My son Nathan also came to town with my two grandbabies and we took them to Disneyland for the first time. It was so great to visit the Magic Kingdom with them.
We spent the night at the Disneyland Hotel (nothing there to write home about) and made it a 2 day affair. The newly renovated Submarine Ride had to be my favorite.
Progress on The House On Cottage Grove
We’re getting closer and closer to the completion of the renovation of The House On Cottage Grove. The interior is nearly finished and next week we move to the outside where we’ll be replacing the deck and staircase and painting the exterior. But this week I decided to have a slice taken off of a large log that has been sitting on my property ever since we built our home and had to cut down a whopping 52 trees in the process. Most of the trees we cut down were sent to be milled, and we then used them to construct the exposed beams in our home. It makes me feel good that the trees, which have been growing on my property for over a hundred years, found a new life in my home. Well this week they continued to serve, as one last log was turned into a beautiful coffee table for The House On Cottage Grove.
The log slices must have weighed 400 pounds each, and took 3 strong men to load them into a truck to be transported to Cottage Grove.
We cleaned and sanded down the surface of one log, and with great difficulty, rolled it into the basement bonus room where it will live as a beautiful and very special coffee table.
I’m sewing window treatments, pillow shams and duvet covers for the entire house. Once complete I’ll be sharing much more of our cottage, which we will be putting on the market by the end of August. If you’re in the Southern California area and want to see the house, I’ll be announcing the date for an Open House & Reception soon.
A Terrific New Restaurant in Redlands
In closing I thought I’d plug a terrific restaurant that just opened last week at Citrus Plaza in Redlands, California called the California Fish Grill. It’s a 19 store chain with locations throughout SoCal and they serve quick, affordable and delicious seafood. I’m not the greatest seafood chef so I love to eat fish when dining out. See what my girlfriend & I ate for lunch post an indulging girls day of pedicures and shopping. YUM!
So there you have it: SUNDAYS WITH CELIA VOL 41
