SUNDAYS WITH CELIA VOL 47
Welcome to Sundays With Celia Vol 47. I’m so pleased you’ve joined me here today. As I write this blog post I’m sitting with my laptop, bundled up on the couch, fire burning, with a cup of tea by my side.
Temperatures have dropped here on our mountaintop, and so have most of the heart shaped leaves on my pretty Red Bud tree.
While the “Red Buds” are long-gone, the red pomegranates are plump and pretty on a neighboring tree, and are just about ready to be harvested. This is one fruit the deer & bears don’t steal from my garden.
Looking Back On Sunday
This week we returned to Europe where I recently enjoyed a Uniworld Riverboat cruise down the Danube River. I shared with you my visit to Austria’s oldest winery, Nikolaihof, an enchanting old estate in the UNESCO World Heritage region of the beautiful Wachau Valley. If you missed that post use this link to take you to Austrian wine country. You’ll be glad you did.
The Perfect Fall Throw
As cooler weather sets in I ran across a beautiful throw at Pottery Barn. It incorporates all of the colors I used in my latest fixer-upper, The House On Cottage Grove. It now makes its home on the living room couch, just waiting for someone to get cozy in. It comes in a whole bunch of colors and is currently on sale for only $31. I think they would make great holiday gifts. Get yours by clicking here.
Craving Peanut Coleslaw on Sunday
Went to visit my dear old Dad this week and met him at a favorite restaurant, Wood Ranch BBQ, for lunch. They make yummy BBQ but admittedly I go there for two reason: The Shaved Onions and the Peanut Coleslaw. Living up on this mountain I can’t easily satisfy cravings for food served in a restaurant 2 hours away. So, to resolve my frequent cravings for Wood Ranch Peanut Coleslaw I developed my own, darn good, (if I do say so myself) knockoff recipe. Get it here.
It’s Good To Have Friends With Wood-Fired Pizza Ovens
This week we had the good fortune of being invited for wood-fired pizza at my bestie, Brenda’s, house.
Her lovely table
When building her home, Brenda made the brilliant decision to add a wood burning oven to her kitchen.
She made my favorite pizza, shrimp in a garlic and olive oil sauce.
Several delicious wood-fired pizzas were enjoyed along with this really yummy salad. It was butter lettuce, sliced pears, toasted pecans, slivered dates and gorgonzola cheese, tossed in a light vinaigrette. It was so good!
We also enjoyed this beautiful and delicious Apple Pie for dessert.
Some Grand-baby Cookie Craziness in DC
Have you ever heard of “Cookie Dippers?” I hadn’t until I saw this video shot at my son’s home in DC and featuring my grand-babies eating wayyyyyyy toooooo many cookies. But, hey, I think Cookie Dippers would make a great stocking stuffer.
Yes, that was my grandson wiping chocolate cookies all over his white shorts!
It’s My Blogging Anniversary
Four years ago this month I launched After Orange County just in time to post my favorite Thanksgiving recipes. Since then I’ve grown this little blog to a respectable 50,000 visitors a month. So, let me take this opportunity to thank you, very sincerely, for following along as I live my life After Orange County. I am ever-so-grateful for you.
