SUNDAYS WITH CELIA VOL 60

Hi there! Thanks for stopping in today for Sundays With Celia Vol 60. I hope you have been enjoying a lovely, long 4th of July weekend.

We celebrated the 4th with some family and friends on our newly renovated dock.

I was so busy entertaining that I didn’t get any photos of all the yummy food we consumed. But I did get some pictures of the spectacular fireworks show we are so fortunate to enjoy every year right here in Lake Arrowhead. Most years we have taken our boat out on the lake in order to get a good view of the fireworks. But not this year, as our new dock has a perfect, front and center, up-close-and-personal view.

A Garden Tour On Sunday

I love this time of year when most gardens are at their best. And, the beautiful garden of our good friends, Brenda & Jim, is no exception.

Recently we enjoyed a little garden party at their Lake Arrowhead home, where they have planted some beautiful, old heirloom roses.

Wedding Planning On Sunday

It is hard to believe but our son’s wedding, which we will be hosting here in our Lake Arrowhead home, is only 8 short weeks away. It was ten months ago when I told you about his Yosemite engagement. With the big day looming it is wedding central here at the Becker abode. As it will be a destination wedding for most, the celebration will be a weekend affair, beginning with a Welcome Dinner at the Lake Arrowhead Country Club, the Ceremony and Reception at our home, and a Farewell Breakfast which will be served during a voyage on the Lake Arrowhead Queen.

One of the tasks that I have been charged with is to plan the Farewell Breakfast. I decided that the best way in which to serve food on a boat would be to hand out Breakfast in a Box. So I sourced these white folding take-out boxes here.

And I purchased gray paper straws and Baker’s Twine on Etsy.

In each box I plan to include a jar of French Yogurt, a container of mixed fruit, a muffin and a bottle of OJ served in milk jugs decorated with belly bands from Minted. I’ll be including a personalized napkin as well. Mimosas, champagne and coffee will also be offered onboard.

So here is what my cute little Breakfast in a Box box will look like. It will include a wooden spoon and a personalized wax seal will decorate the boxes all tied up in twine.

Sewing Wedding Favors On Sunday

Another wedding activity that is keeping me very busy these days is the sewing of blanket shawls which we will be offering as wedding favors to our guests. Just after Christmas I ordered bolts of flannel fabric on sale at JoAnn’s.

Because the wedding & reception will take place outdoors, we thought that blanket shawls would make an appropriate and useful thing to offer as the evening cools off here on our mountain top. So, I’ve been sewing away, making the wedding favors. To personalize them I had cotton twill, sew-in custom labels made here using some of the art created for the invitations.

And here is the finished product, all tied up in gray satin ribbon. Now I just have about 50 more of these to make!
