SUNDAYS WITH CELIA VOL 61
Hi there! Thanks so much for joining me today for Sundays With Celia Vol 61. The weather has been gorgeous here in Lake Arrowhead where we enjoyed some wine and appetizers on our dock Saturday evening and then went to the Village by boat for dinner. I always have to pinch myself that I actually live in such a very special place.
After dinner, as we were returning to our boat, we bumped into Brett Waterman, Preservationist & host of the DIYNetwork Series, RESTORED, a show Brad and I watch on Wednesdays at 10|9c. I spent a few minutes talking to him about our shared passion for bringing old homes back to their original glory. Turns out he has a home and dock literally a few doors down from ours. Small world! You never know who you’ll meet on this mountain top!
Looking Back On Sunday
In case you missed it, this week I shared with you the renovation of the bathroom in The House On Victoria Court. Click here to see the transformation.
It’s been a busy but fun week around here. Had dear friends visit us who are making their way across country from their home in Florida to Lake Tahoe, California where they have rented a cottage for the summer. They’ve invited us to join them in Tahoe, which we’re planning to do in September, just after our son’s wedding. We’re going to be in need of a decompression holiday after the months of planning and preparation we’ve been putting into this affair. And speaking of this affair…
Wedding Planning Progress Report On Sunday
If you’ve been following along lately you’ll know that I have been charged with planning my son’s wedding, which we will also be hosting in about 7 weeks here in our Lake Arrowhead home. My future daughter-in-law has requested that her favorite, S’Mores, be served as a late evening snack at the reception. After seeing this idea for a S’Mores Bar on Pinterest…
I asked my handy-dandy carpenter to make me something similar and this week he completed the project, constructing this large wooden vessel from which wedding guests will prepare their own S’Mores. But instead of just having your standard Graham Crackers and Hersey Bars, my creative caterer came up with the idea of offering a wide variety of cookies, and different flavors of chocolate and marshmallows for a Gourmet S’Mores Bar. It will be entertaining and delicious at the same time.
Oh and by the way, one of the numerous signs I’m having made for the wedding will include one like the inspiration photo below.
And speaking of catering, I decided I wanted all of the servers at the wedding to look uniform and to match the wedding color palette. So after an unsuccessful and exhaustive search online for aprons, I decided to make them myself. After purchasing just the right shade of blue twill fabric at Dorell Fabric Outlet, I set about sewing bistro aprons.
Sewing the Apron Ties
Using the same sew-in custom labels I purchased for the Blanket Shawl Favors…
I first sewed pockets for the front of the aprons. Then I sewed all of the apron ties.

And here is a completed apron.
Part of the fun in planning this wedding is receiving various items that have been ordered for the wedding. This week the most precious Flower Girl Petal Basket and Ring Bearer Pillow arrived. We ordered these exquisite accessories from this vendor on Etsy. It makes me anxious for the big day, when my grandchildren will be walking down the aisle holding them.
In last weeks Sundays With Celia I showed you a mockup of the Breakfast Boxes we will be serving the morning after the wedding when we take wedding guests on a boat cruise around Lake Arrowhead.
This week I got in the personalized napkins that will be going in the boxes. Again, they were another great item I found here on Etsy.
Don’t Forget!
