SUNDAYS WITH CELIA VOL 64
Hello and welcome to Sundays With Celia Vol 64. I’m so happy you are here!
What I’ve Been Up To
As usual I’ve had a crazy busy week which was all consumed with my son’s upcoming wedding that is now a short 4 weeks from yesterday! Yikes, I have no idea where the time went since his engagement in Yosemite almost one year ago!
So this week I met with both the “Month Of” Wedding Coordinator, Heather from Willow Tree Weddings and the Caterer to finalize our plans. The menu for the wedding consists of foods from the combined heritages of both families: Spanish, Italian, Scandinavian and American. We wanted the caterer to make my Spanish Grandmother’s Gazpacho recipe as a first course. So I prepared it for her and we had a tasting during our meeting. The yummy, refreshing summer soup recipe will be up on the blog early next week so stay tuned. It’s a great way to use the wonderful fresh tomatoes that are so abundant this time of year.
A Going Away Garden Party
On Friday night we attended an enchanting garden party at the home of our dear friends Cindy & Robert. As wonderful as the evening was it was also bitter sweet. That’s because it was a going away gathering for our friends Brenda & Jim, whom I’ve introduced you to many times on this blog. As you might remember if you’re a regular here, Brad and I have a set of 3 other couples that we affectionately call our “Homie” group. This group will never be the same with the departure of Brenda & Jim.
We dined at a gorgeous table in the garden.
The all-vegetarian feast with a French theme consisted of a delicious Lentil & Onion Soup followed by a Classic Nicoise Salad.
The Main Dish was a yummy Roasted Squash Galette. Mushroom Galette. For a similar dish try my recipe for
My contribution to the meal was my Fresh Fruit Pavlova. You can get my recipe for this wonderfully light and refreshing summer dessert by clicking here.

California Is Burning
In closing I just want to say how sad I am for all the folks all over the great state of California who are experiencing wildfires in their area. While the threat of fire is always great here in our beautiful mountain community, so far we have been untouched. Fingers and toes crossed that it remains that way. On the other hand the smoke and soot from fires burning down the mountain have permeated our air, reminding us of how near the danger lurks. One of the strange phenomenons of smoke in the air is how it turns our sunsets bright red. I captured these photos of the smoky sun setting in my backyard yesterday.
Well, this week’s Sunday With Celia is short and sweet. Gotta go do more wedding prep. See you next week!
So there you have it: SUNDAYS WITH CELIA VOL 64
