DECORATING FOR FALL WITH DIY CLOTH PUMPKINS
DECORATING FOR FALL WITH DIY CLOTH PUMPKINS
Welcome! Thanks for paying me a visit today. As you may have seen in my last blog post, our home got the royal wedding treatment with amazing floral arrangements produced for my son’s recent wedding.
However, it became a bit dreary once the flowers faded and had to be discarded, leaving me with empty urns that were begging to be filled. But it occurred to me that by decorating for fall with my DIY cloth pumpkins I could remedy that situation. Every year I save the stems from my natural pumpkins and then make cloth pumpkins with them. Over the years my collection of pumpkins has grown and I love that these pumpkins will last a lifetime, unlike the wedding flowers. Click here for my complete DIY Cloth Pumpkin Tutorial.
So now let me show you how I transformed the wedding flower containers into decorations for fall. Here’s the BEFORE of my Courtyard Window…
and here’s the AFTER.
Here’s the BEFORE Dining Table wedding flowers…

Here’s the Dining Room Mantel wedding flowers…

Somehow we didn’t get a photo of my Kitchen Table wedding flowers, but here it is adorned with cloth pumpkins.
This is what the Table in the Foyer looked like on wedding day…
and here it is today.
By the way, just because I love my cloth pumpkins doesn’t mean I don’t also use fresh pumpkins for my fall decor as well. In fact, I need more natural stems for future cloth pumpkins. So after the wedding I planted the flowers that had been in cute Tote Baskets…
and added fresh pumpkins and Natural Spanish Moss to them for Fall. I buy my pumpkins at Trader Joes where they carry an array of unique pumpkins at bargain prices.
And I added some pumpkins to the bench on my porch.
We were invited to celebrate Thanksgiving this year in New Jersey with my new daughter-in-law’s family. I was struggling with what to bring them for a hostess gift. However, it occurred to me that I should make them some homemade cloth pumpkins. I better get working on that stat!
