HOW TO CREATE A POSITIVELY EPIC S’MORES BAR
Hello! Since it’s Valentine’s week I thought it would be a perfect time to share with you a very sweet, decadent, and chocolaty subject:
HOW TO CREATE A POSITIVELY EPIC S’MORES BAR
It also happens to have to do with the very loving & romantic subject of my son’s recent wedding, which I have been meaning to share more of with you.
So, what better time than the most romantic week of the year to do so? It’s the week when we have an excuse to dine with reckless abandon on sumptuous and tempting treats like gourmet S’mores.
My son’s bride loves S’mores, and I think pretty much everyone does, right? So when she asked me if we could have a S’more’s Bar at the wedding I planned for her and my son at our Lake Arrowhead home I was all in.
Well, as you know if you follow this blog, I flip houses for a living, and have a handy carpenter at the ready to build things for me. So I put pen to paper and designed a giant S’mores Bar and had him make it for me. It measured 6 feet long by 32 inches wide. The center section is raised in order to hold sternos, the cooking source for our S’mores. All of the various and sundry S’mores ingredients would go in the cubbies encircling the center cooking area. This way people could be making their S’mores from all sides of the S’mores Bar.
Then I got together with my very talented and creative Caterer, Lauren Harris, and we brainstormed ideas for the most creative and out-of-the box ingredients for how to create a positively epic S’mores Bar.
And here’s what we came up with:
MARSMALLOWS…
COOKIES…
- Traditional Honey Graham Crackers
- TJ’s Cinnamon Graham Crackers
- Chocolate Graham Crackers
- Sugar Cookies
- Waffle Cookies
- Oatmeal Cookies
- Peanut Butter Cookies
- Snickerdoodle Cookies
- Chocolate Chip Cookies
CHOCOLATE…
- Milk Chocolate Bars
- Dark Chocolate Bars
- White Chocolate Bars
- Peanut Butter Cups
- Cookies & Cream Bars
- Peppermint Patties
TOPPINS & DIPS…
- Sea Salt
- Cinnamon
- Toasted Coconut
- Caramel Sauce
- Chocolate Sauce
- Strawberry Sauce
- Peanut Butter
- Chopped Peanuts, Almonds, Walnuts
TOOLS…
- Large 8 oz. Sternos
- Lighter (to light sternos)
- Bamboo Marshmallow Roasting Sticks
- Mason Jars (for sticks & syrups)
- Martini Glasses (for nuts)
- Flameless Candles (to fill in gaps and add some ambient light & decor)
- Serving Spoons
- Personalized Napkins
- Mini Bamboo Appetizer Plates
- Roast A Mallow & Party S’More Sign
- Shepherd’s Hooks
- Trash Can
And don’t forget some cute signage. I had my friend who does great calligraphy make the wedding signs for me. The morning of the wedding I had planted this sign into a nearby pot using a shepherd’s hook.
Meanwhile, I was enjoying the wedding while Lauren and her team were putting the S’mores Bar together, so when I finally got a look at it I was blown away! It turned out so much better than I had ever imagined!

Because we served both a plated dessert and wedding cake, the S’mores Bar was introduced as a late-night-snack. The bride and groom wanted their wedding reception to be a festive dance party, with everyone, young and old, dancing the night away.
They did take time out from the dancing to enjoy a S’mores.
