Hello there! Sorry for the radio silence of late. I have just returned from 14 days at sea, where the internet was virtually non-existent. The cruise line tells you they are giving you free internet as a perk. But honestly, for the most part it’s worthless, especially when you are 1,500 miles out in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean. Eventually when I was able to log-on, so-too was every-other-living-soul on the ship, making it painfully slow. As a result blogging was simply impossible.
But eating on the other hand, there was plenty of time and resources for that! Absolutely no problem in that department.

So now that we are back from our over-indulgent holiday, Brad and I have decided it’s time to get serious about shedding some extra pounds. And who should appear just when we needed them? NAKED NUTRITION! They asked if I’d like to work with them to develop a recipe using their product called NAKED MEAL, a meal replacement powder. Ironically, I became friends with a woman on our cruise who told me she had just shed 30 pounds using a meal replacement diet plan. I figured if she could do it why couldn’t I?
NAKED MEAL contains only 15 real food ingredients. They begin with grass fed whey protein and add in organic fiber, organic fruits and vegetables for vitamins and minerals, probiotics for gut health, and coconut cream powder for healthy fat. I find that the coconut also gives it a delightful flavor.
So, I set out to develop a delicious meal replacement smoothie recipe that would not add a lot of additional calories but would give it some extra bang for the buck. The goal was to provide well-rounded nutrition in a convenient, quick and easy way. And this is what I came up with: My Spinach, Kiwi, Mango, Pineapple, Lime Smoothie!
Here’s what you’ll need to make it…
- 2 Loose Cups Fresh Organic Baby Spinach
- 1 Fresh Organic Kiwi
- 1/2 Cup Fresh Organic Mango
- 1/3 Cup Fresh Organic Pineapple
- Juice from 1/2 Fresh Lime
- 1 tsp Toasted Flax Seeds
- 1 tsp Chia Seeds
- 1 Cup Crushed Ice
- 2 Scoops NAKED MEAL
- Unsweetened Coconut, Extra Slice of Kiwi & Mango for Garnish, Optional
Here’s how to make the smoothie…
Assemble all of your ingredients first. Then start layering them, preferably in a high speed blender such as a Vitamix. I like to put the ice in first so it’s sure to get crushed up well.
Add the NAKED MEAL powder somewhere in the middle so it too gets well incorporated. The last thing you’ll do is squeeze in the lime juice on top.
Then blend on medium high until smooth. You will end up with about 3 cups of delicious meal replacement smoothie from this recipe.
I sliced a second kiwi for garnish and placed the slices inside the glasses before pouring in the smoothie. This is optional of course, as is a little sprinkle of unsweetened coconut and a piece of mango on top. But it sure looks pretty.
Here’s the bare naked facts…
My delicious meal replacement smoothie recipe will yield about 3 cups of yumminess. Drink it all in one serving, save some for a snack later, or do as I’m doing, share some with a friend, in my case my husband and diet buddy. If you consumed all 3 cups in one sitting you’d consume:
- 289 calories
- 266% RDA Vitamin C
- 46% RDA Vitamin K
- 43% RDA Vitamin A
- 10% RDA Vitamin B, Folate & Potassium
- 29 grams of protein
- 28 grams carbohydrates
- 11 grams of fiber
- 7 grams of healthy fat
- Pre and Probiotics
- Organic food-based vitamins and minerals
- No added sweeteners, flavors, or colors
- GMO, Soy, Growth Hormone and Gluten Free
