TOUR OUR CHARMING MAINE VACATION COTTAGE
Welcome! If you’ve been following along lately you know that we have recently returned from a wonderful family vacation in Maine. Maine is one of my favorite places to visit in the world. It is so quaint, charming and simply beautiful. The scenery is stunning at every turn, the food is outstanding and the people are very friendly. I hope to return to Maine again and again, and so does my family, who enjoy it as much as I do. So today we’ll tour our charming Maine vacation cottage.
It’s always so fun when you first arrive at a vacation rental property. You have in your mind’s eye an idea of what the property looks like from studying the photos online, and you’re crossing your fingers and toes you won’t be disappointed. The home we rented consisted of two units, a 3 bedroom, 2 bath home and a 1 bedroom, 1 bath guest house, both of which you can see in the photo above. We turned the key to the Main House and entered into the black and white kitchen. It was basic but spacious, and had everything we needed to prepare all of the wonderful meals I told you about in my last post.
The Main House
The kitchen opened into this pretty living room, which had a gorgeous view to the ocean.
In fact, once we settled in, my son and I set up a 1,000 piece puzzle in the window. We worked on it during our stay while enjoying the view. We never did finish that puzzle, but it was entertaining and relaxing.
This was our view from the Living Room window. Not bad, huh?
It had a nice fireplace and comfortable seating.
We added some fresh flowers from the Portland Farmers’ Market to make the place feel a little more like home.
A Living Room shelf housed an attractive display.
There was one spacious bedroom downstairs located off of the kitchen.
Next to it was a small but cute Powder Room. The only shower was in an upstairs Bathroom.
Upstairs
Heading upstairs you encounter what I thought was one of the prettiest vignettes in the house. At the top of the stair landing was this mantle, painted a robin’s egg blue and decorated with an attractive painting above.
It opened into this cute room with a queen bed and a pretty little window seat from which to admire the sea.
Heading back out, the stair landing opened on the other side to another spacious bedroom with 2 twin beds.
My 2 Grandkids were excited to move right in, making this bedroom their new home-away-from-home.
This was the vintage, upstairs bathroom, which I thought had a lot of charm despite its petite size.
The Guest Cottage
After all of the kids explored the Main House and staked out their bedrooms we headed across the lawn to the Guest House where Brad and I would be staying.
The Guest House consisted of this downstairs king bedroom.
As a lover of blue and white I found this display of china on the wall quite attractive.
A wall of windows had a lovely ocean view. There was also an unattractive bathroom/laundry room located in the Guest House which I won’t bother showing you.
The artwork looked like it could have been painted on the property.
Upstairs, above the bedroom, was this nautical inspired living area. My husband used it as a quiet place to get some work done. Without a TV to watch movies it was rather a useless space for the family to gather, so it didn’t get much use.
The best part about our charming Maine vacation cottage was the property itself, and the access to the ocean from the private dock. The rental came complete with 2 kayaks and a paddle board, which the kids took full advantage of.
We enjoyed a wonderful family vacation in Maine and can’t wait to return.
