SUNDAYS WITH CELIA VOL 93
Hello and welcome to Sundays With Celia Vol 93. I hope you are enjoying this last day of Summer as Fall begins tomorrow! Are you ready for Fall? For me it seemed the Summer simply flew by, so I feel I could use a few more weeks to enjoy the longer days, dining alfresco, and enjoying the lake. But, Fall is such a beautiful season that I imagine I’ll adjust my mindset quickly, and start adding comfort food to my menu repertoire, one of the best parts about Fall.
Looking Back on Sunday
Did you catch my blog post this week? I shared with you my Big Bear Lake Kid’s Room Remodel. This is my favorite room in the house, so I put a lot of energy into completing it first. While we are still working on some of the finishing touches that I’ll share in a future post, there’s a lot to look at now. So pop on over and check it out, then let me know what you think. I’ll be sharing much more of the Big Bear Lake remodel as we continue to make swift progress, so do stay tuned!
Downton Abbey The Movie
The Downton Abbey movie came out on Friday to great fanfare and is already a huge box-office success. As an avid fan of the long-running TV series, I have been waiting anxiously for the release of the movie. At long last Brad and I will be seeing it tonight. Every news outlet and entertainment show on both radio and TV have been all-abuzz with commentary about the movie and interviews with its cast. In one interview some of the cast members intimated that a sequel to the movie is likely. That sounds good to me! Are you a Downton fan too?
Sycamore Ranch on Sunday
Brad and I enjoy wine, and while we are not terribly savvy about wine in general, we know what we like. And since our home has a wine cellar, we enjoy stocking up on our favorite wines.
As I’ve mentioned in this post and others, we are extremely fortunate to have a premier winery right in our own backyard: Sycamore Ranch Vineyard and Winery. Owned by our friends, Richard & Elizabeth, we are so pleased that after years of very hard work, they are now enjoying wonderful success with their wine. In fact, they recently won the most prestigious award from the 2019 Sunset Magazine International Wine Competition:
Best of the Best, Double Gold, Best of Class,
Best of Show Red Wine
2017 Grenache 97 pts.
I am proud to call Richard & Elizabeth friends, and heartedly endorse their delicious wines and ciders. If you are ever visiting the Southern California mountains, you must visit their tasting room, and tell them I sent you. Here’s a lovely little video about them that I hope you’ll take a few minutes to watch, as it is so inspiring…
September Is National Biscuit Month!
I was surprised to learn that September is National Biscuit Month (gosh, must we celebrate everything now days). BUT, if I were to pick a month to celebrate Biscuits it would surely be in the Fall or Winter. I think of biscuits as Comfort Food, something I love to prepare as an accompaniment to a hearty soup or stew. However, a good biscuit can be enjoyed year-round, and my recipe for biscuits, which I named “SIMPLY IRRESISTIBLE CREAM BISCUITS” should be enjoyed anytime of year.
In fact, this recipe is one of my most popular, having been viewed 245,335 on my blog in the last 3 years.
And it holds 4 of the top five spots on Pinterest as my most popular pins! People have engaged with these pins 258,842 this month alone. It makes me very happy to know that so many folks are enjoying my yummy recipe.
So the question is, have you made my recipe for SIMPLY IRRESISTIBLE CREAM BISCUITS yet? Just click here for the irresistible, printable recipe. After-all, it is National Biscuit Month! And be sure to follow me on Pinterest and Instagram as well!
So there you have it: SUNDAYS WITH CELIA VOL 93
