ALL THE EASTER INSPIRATION YOU’LL NEED
Hello out there. It’s Holy Week and boy is it a different one with all of us hunkered down at home. Despite the fact that most of us won’t be celebrating the way we normally would, I hope you will find a way to celebrate the season in a way that will be meaningful and happy for you. Whether you are celebrating Passover, Easter or simply Spring, make it a festive one, even if it’s on a much smaller scale than normal. In celebrating the small things we can bring a little joy into our world in a time when we need it most. So today I thought I’d share with you all the Easter inspiration you’ll need to liven up your day, and bring some joy to you and those around you. Looks like our Easter is going to be a white one. When my children were young we’d celebrate Easter at my uncle’s Palomar Mountain home. He’d leave giant Easter Bunny tracks in the snow that the kids would get a big kick out of. I’d do the same this year if my Grandchildren were able to be here.
HOW TO MAKE A BEAUTIFUL EASTER BASKET
I have been blogging for 7 Easters now and over those years I’ve published a lot of Easter inspiration posts. Back in 2016 I showed you how to make a beautiful custom Easter basket in a step-by-step tutorial.
This year I won’t be celebrating Easter with my grandchildren, as they live 3,000 miles away in DC. But I still found a way to send them some Easter treats in what are slightly less elaborate baskets, but fun all the same. Because they are sequestered at home I was able to acquire things that involve activities from Target. Fortunately I shopped Target’s dollar section in person, before this pandemic broke out. But if you hurry you can still shop Target online for curbside pickup. But before you shop make sure you join Rakuten by clicking here to secure your rebate. It’s free money! Target has loads of fun Easter items to fill a girl’s basket by clicking here. Here’s what I picked up for my granddaughter’s basket. There’s an Easter sticker book, some purple finger paint soap for the tub, some crazy string, some Easter bubbles, Princess bandaids, a flower pot to paint and a pillow to color.
Target even has a section on their website called “Build A Basket” where you choose a basket, then choose the contents. For my grandson’s basket I chose the items in the photo below.
Here’s how I put together the baskets. I started by covering some bubblewrap with white tissue. This gave height to the items in the basket. I then sprinkled in multi-colored, crinkled basket grass.
His basket contains much the same as my Granddaughter’s items, but for him I found a fun activity book called, Nature’s Day Out and About. He can identify things in nature and then find them on a walk or in his backyard. I tucked the book in first to help support the other items.
Once all the items were arranged in the basket I used clear packing tape to discretely hold them in place. Since I’d be shipping these baskets to DC I wanted an extra measure of security. But I’d still use it even if I weren’t shipping the baskets.
The last step was to wrap them in cellphone and tie them up with pretty ribbon. I then packed them up and sent them off via UPS. I’m excited for my grandchildren to receive them.
By the way, everything Easter is currently up to 60% Off here at Pottery Barn.

THE WHITE HOUSE EASTER EGG ROLL
Sadly, the Office of the First Lady recently announced that the traditional and iconic White House Easter Egg Roll was canceled this year due to the Covid-19 outbreak. So sad for those who were lucky enough to score tickets for this year’s event. In any case, you can still see what it’s all about by way of my post entitled THE WHITE HOUSE EASTER EGG ROLL. I will always cherish my official White House Easter Eggs that I have ensconced in a shadow box at home.
ITALIAN EASTER PIE RECIPE
I also published a wonderful recipe for ITALIAN EASTER PIE. It is SO yummy! Made with filo dough, eggs, rice, pine nuts and ricotta cheese, it’s the iconic pie consumed in Italy this time of year.
MY FAMILY’S EASTER RECIPES
In this post I shared with you links to all the recipes my family traditionally makes for Easter dinner. It includes delicious appetizers, grilled spring vegetables, and a fantastic leg of lamb recipe.
AN EASTER TABLESCAPE
If you are one of the lucky ones who still have a large family at home, you will find inspiration in this post entitled MY EASTER TABLE. If you aren’t feeding a crowd this year I say go ahead and set a nice Easter table anyway. I plan to.
