A NEW ADDITION TO MY HOME
Hello,
I have a new addition to my home that I wanted to share with you. Its is a beautiful still life painting called “Old Roses” done by my dear friend Brenda Gibson.
Brenda is an amazingly talented artist, and for a long time I had longed to own one of her paintings. Having actually watched Brenda paint Old Roses, I fell in love with it and hinted to my husband that I’d like to buy it.
Regrettably, the original oil painting sold before Brad tried to acquire it. So, he commissioned Brenda to produce a custom print on canvas, called a Giclee, of the Old Roses painting. Instead of simply handing off the painting to Brad, Brenda invited us over for dinner in her lovely garden, where she presented me with the painting.
She built her beautiful French Normandy style home here in Lake Arrowhead around the same time we built our home. So, we consulted each other a great deal during the building process.
Once our homes were finished we each began our landscaping. That’s when Brenda told me about the old, heirloom roses that were available for purchase from a catalog. Together we ordered several dozen old roses for our gardens, including one called Saint Cecilia for me.
Brenda’s beautiful roses, grown in her own garden, became the subject of her still life painting called “Old Roses”.
So, how fitting that she should have a little garden party in celebration of the painting.
Her husband Jim barbequed…
while her French Bulldog, Pierre, kept us company.
Old Roses now makes its home in my bedroom…
where every morning when I wake up it is one of the first things I see.
That makes me very happy.
If you’d like to see more of Brenda’s fine art it is offered for sale in a lovely little shop here in Lake Arrowhead called The Lake House.
You can also find her award winning work on display at the Mountain Arts Network Gallery located in the Lake Arrowhead Village. Or, visit Brenda’s website here.
So there you have it: A NEW ADDITION TO MY HOME
