SUNDAYS WITH CELIA VOL 49

Greetings and welcome to Sundays With Celia Vol 49. As always, it’s wonderful to have you here. I’m fighting a bad cold but trying to get in the Christmas spirit nontheless. In fact, this afternoon I’ll be attending my first Christmas party, cold and all. It’s the wine Pick-Up Party at our wonderful local winery, Sycamore Ranch Vineyard & Winery.

Looking back on Sunday

As you may know from following along here lately, we enjoyed A Capital Thanksgiving, spending the holiday at the home of our DC dwelling son. The weather was crisp and cool, just how I like it. Nothing better than the sun shining brightly when there’s a chill in the air.

The Kennedy Center On Sunday

Our 5 day visit was full of lots of good food and fun activities that included going to the movies in Georgetown and taking in a show at The Kennedy Center.

In all the years I’ve been going to DC I had never been to The Kennedy Center, so I was excited when my son suggested we take the kiddos to a Children’s Musical called Me…Jane: The Dreams & Adventures of Young Jane Goodall. It is a musical adaptation of the Caldecott Medal winning book, Me…Jane, written by Patrick McDonnell. It was very well done, enjoyed by kids and adults alike. So if you live in the DC area you might want to catch the show, which is playing through December 10th. If you can’t make it to the live performance I’d recommend the book, which I purchased for my Grandchildren.

Before she was a renowned humanitarian, conservationist, and animal activist, Dr. Jane Goodall was a little girl with a very special toy chimpanzee named Jubilee. Together, Jane and Jubilee went on outdoor adventures and observed all the miracles of nature around them. As they learned more and more on their expeditions, Jane dreamed of spending the rest of her life living with and helping animals. And one day, she would go on to do just that.

The Kennedy Center is located on the banks of the Potomac River near the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C. After the show the kids had a lovely time playing on the outdoor terrace. It reminded me how little a child really needs to find enjoyment. In this case the kids thought walking around the perimeter of the garden wall was as exciting as walking a tightrope.

The show will air Tuesday, December 26th at 9pm ET on CBS. Mark your calendars!

The Crown Season 2

Next Friday, December 8th, the acclaimed series The Crown, returns to Netflix. The original drama chronicles the true-life events of Queen Elizabeth II from the 1940s to modern times. As a lifelong fan of all things British, I really enjoyed season 1 and am looking forward to the personal intrigues, romances, and political rivalries that will shape season 2. Here’s the official trailer…

The World’s 12 Most Luxurious Lake Towns

In a recent article in The Thrillist, author Matt Meltzer suggests that if you are ranked among the world’s rich & famous and you own a lake house, it would likely be located on one of the 12 lakes on his list. So imagine my surprise when I found my home town of Lake Arrowhead, California number 2 on the list!

Former Home of Beach Boy Brian Wilson On The Market For $5.8 Million

Here’s what The Thrillist has to say about it:

This tiny, unincorporated town in the San Bernardino Mountains has been used as a filming locale since the industry moved to LA in the early 20th century, most recently for that cinematic masterpiece known as Space Jam. But in addition to being a fictional home for Bugs Bunny, it’s also been a real home for the likes of Bugsy Siegel, Michael Jackson, John Candy, Sammy Hagar, and dozens more.

It’s true, Sammy Hagar just happens to be my next-door-dock-neighbor.

Thanks very much for joining me here today. I hope you are enjoying these first few days of December. ONLY 22 DAYS UNTIL CHRISTMAS! I find that I’m a bit behind in getting my Christmas act together, but I’m hosting a Christmas Tea for my Book Club, and a dinner for my Healthy Cooking Group, so that alone gives me the inspiration to get my rear in gear.

So there you have it: SUNDAYS WITH CELIA VOL 49

Thanks so much for dropping in!
