SUNDAYS WITH CELIA VOL 100
SUNDAYS WITH CELIA TURNS 100 TODAY!
Hello and thank you for joining me here on Sundays With Celia Vol 100! While the blog celebrated its 6th birthday in November and has published 680 blog posts in that time, today marks the 100th edition of my “Sundays With Celia” column. Thank you very much for supporting me along the way, leaving your much appreciated comments, and even purchasing items I recommend. I certainly couldn’t have done it without you and I am so grateful for your support!
LOOKING BACK ON SUNDAY
I’ve been missing in action for a few Sundays now, simply tied up with way too much going on at the moment. So in case you missed it, check out my latest post, SMART IDEAS AND TIPS FOR ORGANIZING YOUR KITCHEN PANTRY. What better way to start off a new year and a new decade than with a clean slate and an organized pantry? Join me and 9 other top bloggers for some very good advice.
LOSING A LEGEND
We are not a huge sports-watching family, but if you asked any one of us what our favorite sport is, the Beckers would unanimously reply, basketball. My husband, Brad, went to college on a basketball scholarship and taught our boys to play his favorite sport. The boys went on to themselves play basketball in school. And when our middle son attended Duke University, we all became obsessed with Duke Basketball. As SoCal natives our favorite team was of course the Lakers, and their star, Kobe Bryant, became our favorite player. When Kobe was in escrow to buy a home in our former neighborhood in Orange County, California, friends from far and wide asked us to drive them by his residence. So, like millions of Kobe’s fans around the world, our family was shocked and deeply saddened by Kobe’s untimely death, this time last week. His passing epitomizes the phrase, “The good die young.”
If you too are a Kobe Bryant fan, I know you’d enjoy reading this thoughtful article from Axios Sports written by Kendall Baker. It recaps 10 BIG things to remember about Kobe Bryant. And, not to be forgotten as well, his daughter GiGi and the 7 other souls who perished along with them. It is a tragedy that broke far too many hearts. I can’t imagine the heartbreak felt by Vanessa, his wife, when in an instant she lost 2 precious members of her family.
IT’S SUPER BOWL SUNDAY!
As I said, our family doesn’t usually spend our Sundays watching sports on TV, but like millions of other Americans, we will be watching the Kansas City Chiefs take on the San Fransisco 49ers this afternoon. I haven’t watched a football game since last years Super Bowl, but again, as a Californian, I guess I’ll be rooting for the 49ers. Will you be watching the game, or are you, like me, in it for the commercials, the halftime performances, and the food? Speaking of food, in case you need some last minute Super Bowl Sunday Appetizer Recipe recommendations, look no further than here, where I’ve assembled my all-time faves.
Well, I’m making this edition of Sundays With Celia short, as I know you’re busy getting ready for your big day of sports. May your favorite team win!
So there you have it: SUNDAYS WITH CELIA VOL 100
